Why Global Warming is a Joke

While reading my Bible the other day I came across a passage that struck me in light of all the hype and craziness over global warming. Now keep in mind, I have never believed all of this global warming propaganda nor have I been a follower of Al Gore. I would like to think that common sense and wisdom have been by my side, instead.

The context of this passage takes place after the great flood. Noah and his family, along with all of the animals have left the ark. Noah has built an altar and made a sacrifice to the Lord. God was pleased with Noah and said the following.

“I will never again curse the earth, destroying all living things, even though people’s thoughts and actions are bent toward evil from childhood. As long as the earth remains, there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night.” (Genesis 8:21-22)

You can’t get any clearer than that.

For those who put their trust and faith in the Lord, this is comforting and freeing. For those who are searching these words will hopefully make them think, and unfortunately for those who want nothing to do with God, they will only fight it, deny it, or run. In my simple and common sense way of thinking and doing, I just say, God said it, I believe it, case closed. God’s Word has always stood the test and it will in this case too.

So do you really want to believe all of the Global Warming hype led by people who don’t even follow their own advice and get rich off of this joke, or will you realize contrary to world belief, God is still in control and always will be?

  1. Good insight. I hadn’t thought of that passage as relating to this whole topic.

Hi Laurie, thanks for taking time to comment on my blog. Sorry I am just getting back to you. Your comment was stuck in my spam box. It’s amazing how God’s Word is fresh and new every time I read it. I had read those passages many times and I myself had never though of them that way either. My hope is that I don’t take verses out of context.

Wow, excellent Biblical support for this argument! I have been thinking lately, though, that we as Christians should want to take care of the planet God put us on, right? I mean, he has entrusted it to our care, just like he did the animals (Gen 1:28) and the earth (Gen 1:29, 2:15). So I think we could argue that “saving the planet” is not only a liberal hippie idea, but also a Biblical one. Our purposes might be different (they do it to avoid an ice age or whatever and we do it so that we might honor God by treating his creation–all of it–with respect. What do you think? Am I reaching here?

P.S. Now you have my URL. :)

Hey Linden, thanks for reading my blog. No I don’t think that you are reaching. I of course agree that we need to take care of what God has entrusted to us. What I do have a problem with is government regulating how we do that. Whenever the government gets too involved it spells disaster in all arenas of life. What is ironic is that those who try to push global warming and the like are the ones who often are the ones doing the most harm to the environment, Al Gore being one of them. The whole global warming argument has been based on lies and ulterior motives. It’s really sad how low the human heart can sink. That’s a whole other issue though.

I am not categorically against government regulation. I think that we as humans can be really selfish and if we don’t have an incentive, we often don’t do what we should. For us Christ-followers, our incentive is to be like Christ. But so many people need rules to follow in order to see outside themselves and their needs. I don’t think the government should regulate every area of our life, for sure, and this is problematic because (1) regulation is a slippery slope and (2) even those with the best of intentions get power-hungry when they get in power.

I totally agree that those who are most vocal about global warming are those rich people who fly in jets all the time and do so many other things that hurt the environment. It’s ridiculous hypocrisy.
