The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History

Do you really know your history? You just might be shocked after you read The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History by Thomas E. Woods, Jr., Ph.D.

I was amazed at what I didn’t know about American history and what I had been taught that wasn’t fully accurate or accurate at all. Almost everything that I remember isn’t even truth. This is frustrating and scary. If I wasn’t taught all of the truth back in the 1980’s, what are my children not learning now in the 2000’s?

Did you know that the Framers never said that a black person was just three-fifths of a white person (pg. 17-18)?

Did you know that the Fourteenth Amendment was never constitutionally ratified (chpt. 7)?

Did you know that while many Americans were hungry and destitute, FDR ordered the slaughter of six million pigs and the destruction of ten million acres of cotton (pgs. 146-148)?

These are just a taste of what you will learn if you pick up this book. There are wonderful quotes and suggestions for other books you can read to go along with the subject that the author is covering.

The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History is a fascinating book that is a must read for those of you who desire to know the truth about our great country. We must know our past to move forward into the future. We must know our history to hold onto the freedoms that we have been given. We must understand what happened in our country that wasn’t so great, so that we will be wise to those who are trying to repeat it tenfold.

Every American should read this. I pray that if you do, that it will open your eyes.

The Shack

The Shack by William Young

The Shack by William Young

I hesitated to do a review on this particular book. I actually read it some time ago, even before it became so popular among many Christians and even the secular world. I hadn’t read any reviews on it. I actually did not know anything about it, other than it was recommended by a ministry that my husband and I had done a study through. So I picked up the book—there was only one copy of it at our local Christian book store, and I started to read it.

The book was captivating and had me drawn in, but that feeling did not last. Something just wasn’t right about what I was reading. I don’t get this feeling often when I read books, especially fiction books. But I just didn’t like where the story was headed. It went from being a great story about how God heals and restores a broken spirit to an outlandish, unbiblical view of who God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are.

God is an African-American woman, Jesus is a young middle-aged man of Middle Eastern descent, and the Holy Spirit is Sarayu, a small fragile Asian woman. I wanted to stop the book right there, but thought maybe I was missing something, that certainly Mr. Young didn’t really believe this. So I read on.

Obviously, William Young had the roles of the Trinity all warped. That wasn’t all that was troubling though. He had some crazy ideas about submission and free will. They were completely unbiblical. I was completely sickened by the book and told my husband that I wished that I had never bought it.

Actually, I am glad I bought it. While I am no great theologian, I am by nature very discerning. When I read, I look into things and I knew right away that this book was headed down a road that wasn’t good, regardless if it was fiction or not. I believe that because I read this that I can share with others the dangers found in the theology of this book. If I only stop one person from falling prey to the hype and unbiblical text of this book then I have done my job.

I could go into much more about what I found to be unbiblical and distasteful in this book, but I will let others do that. You can read a much more in-depth review of The Shack at Discerning Reader. I went there after I had read this book and was glad to see that it wasn’t just me seeing the wrong in this book.

It makes me sad that God’s Word gets so distorted. Many today feel that it is there job to “spice” God up to make Him relevant to people. God and God’s Word does not need spiced up and is just as relevant today as ever. I believe that it is us who need to change. We need to let the Word of God tell us the truth, not someone’s own interpretation. We must all be discerning of all that comes into our heads and hearts.

Will The United Nations Climate Change Treaty Lead to a Global Government?

Did you know that an “agreement on Global climate change” might just be signed by many countries, including our own in Copenhagen this December? I didn’t know anything about it, until my mom told me something about it and when I watched Glenn Beck the other night.

This treaty, as it should be called, is a scary thing. It calls for a one world government, redistribution of wealth from wealthy countries to poor countries. It would literally close down the free market system, take over financial markets worldwide and also tax every financial transaction on wealthy countries at least 2%. That last act alone has the power to completely close down Wall Street.

All of this under the convenient disguise of the environment and global warming. Apparently we, the wealthy nations, especially the United States, are to blame for “global warming”, and so we must pay for it. We would pay for it by basically paying back the poor countries, which don’t emit that much CO2. This is called climate debt. So we suffer and others get to reap the rewards.

Let’s see, redistribute wealth nationally and now globally. Government takeover of all aspects of life nationally and now globally. Glenn Beck asked his guests on Friday’s show if they believed that this treaty would actually be signed. Bolton said he didn’t think it would and Lord Monckton absolutely pleaded with Americans that it most certainly would.

The signing of this document would change our country and our world forever. Our constitution is in jeopardy, here. We must wake up. We must let our Senators know. Right now they are our only hope to stop this insanity. Call your senators. Go to WEBCommentary and sign the petition to stop this treaty. If you love your freedom, act!

I have no doubt in my mind that our president loves this and that this is all a part of his master plan. He has evil intent and he hates our country. He will sign this “agreement”. I pray that I am wrong, but look what he has done so far.

Unbelievable Prayer

Life has been a huge struggle for many years for my family and me. Today hasn’t been any different. Things have not been good financially. And in my finite mind I don’t see a way out. I love word pictures so I often picture our family inside an enclosure with cement on all sides and we just keep running into the walls in hopes to find a secret compartment or door to open, but it never does and we are only getting bruised up and damaged.

What does this have to do with prayer? Well, everything. In the good and in the bad, we are to be praying to God. Pray without ceasing. This is where I am at. I have always prayed, but have I really. Do I believe when I pray? I never doubt that God can do things, but I doubt that He will. I have allowed my families circumstances to get the best of me and I have allowed fear to overtake me. Is this what it means to be broken? Maybe.

I was reading my devotional, Streams in the Desert, by L.B. Cowman, for the day and it was appropriately on prayer. God has a sense of humor! I want to quote parts of the devotional; because I couldn’t say it any better than she did.

“Prayer is the link that connects us with God. It is the bridge that spans every gulf and carries us safely over every chasm of danger or need”. (pg. 412, Steams in the Desert) No one can ever take this away from me. I am so grateful for that. Everything else may go, but my connection to God will never be stripped from me. Now if I could just remember that every single day.

“In your prayers, above everything else, beware of limiting God, not only through unbelief but also by thinking you know exactly what He can do. Learn to expect the unexpected, beyond all that you ask or think”. (pg. 413, Streams in the Desert) Wow, this quote hit me hard. I know that I limit God. I only see what is obvious or feasible in my own mind. Sure I see Him do wondrous things for others, but that surely can’t happen in my own life or the life of my family. Like I said above, I believe God is capable, but I truly doubt that He will do anything in my life. I have limited God and this isn’t okay.

This has been a struggle for some time in my life and until God is through with me, I assume it will always be something I have to be guarded against. I must always remember that I serve an amazing God and that nothing is impossible for Him.

Wrestling prayer can wonders do,
Bring relief in dire straits;
Prayer can force a passage through
Iron bars and heavy gates.

What Happened To Common Sense?

I realize we need rules and laws, but we must use wise judgment and common sense when applying them.

As I am sure most of you have heard about or read over the last few days, a six year old boy was facing 45 days in reform school for taking a Cub Scout camping utensil to school. He was excited to have it and enjoyed using it on camp outs. The camping utensil apparently fell out of his back pack and was seen by a supervisor at his school. Oh my goodness. Grab the handcuffs.

Due to the no tolerance rule in place the school had no other choice but to suspend him and send him off to reform.

The school board apparently had enough protest that little Zachary won’t be off to reform school, but may still have to visit the guidance counselor at school. Way to go parents.

Amazing, truly amazing. Teenagers can somehow show up in the streets of Chicago with boards and their own feet and kill an innocent boy, all the while surrounded by desensitized teenagers and yet we want to suspend an innocent six year old for a cub scout utensil. Hmm. Is that common sense? What a messed up, political correct corrupted country we are becoming.

Let’s see what common sense might have looked like. “Zachary, I am so sorry, but I will have to hold on to your pocket utensil kit until I can talk to your parents and hand it over to them. We can’t allow items like that at school. It is our policy, so that we can try to keep all of you safe.” Pretty simple. Pretty straight forward.

We truly need to focus on the important. Politically correct, no tolerance rhetoric has overtaken what God gave us—BRAINS!!!
