I was watching Glenn Beck yesterday and I was intrigued by what he had to say regarding where we are headed as a nation. Unless we change course and bring spiritual faith back into play we will find ourselves back in bondage.
Finding Rest

This past week and even today, I have had unrest in my soul that I can’t even put into words. Circumstances and issues just seem to keep flying in my face and there seems to be no rest from them.
I have had many a break down and have gone through a good share of Kleenex. I find myself in a panic. Anxiety builds up. My husband was right when he told me I paralyze myself, because I allow all of the “stuff” to overwhelm me, instead of just moving, even if it means baby-steps.
I need rest. Life just seems to be crushing me and wearing me out. I am in a daily battle just to keep my eyes and heart focused on the Lord. There has to be some light.
Well, there is. God always has a way of bringing me back to Him. I was reading Matthew 11 today, and was reminded in verse 28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Boy how I needed that. It was a reminder that no matter what happens or doesn’t happen, God is always there.
Are you weary? Are you burdened? Guess who can give you the rest you so desperately need? GOD can and will. He’s waiting.

A Time For Freedom by Lynne Cheney
Do you know American History? I thought I did, until I read A Time For Freedom by Lynne Cheney. From 13,000 years ago to 2001, Mrs. Cheney takes you through American history in small comprehensible points.
I was amazed at how many facts I had forgotten and how many more I had never been taught. These are fundamental facts from our great Nations history. My lack of knowledge made me concerned about my own children’s history education. What are they learning or not learning and how could I step in and make a difference?
THE SIZE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OVER WHICH PRESIDENT COOLIDGE PRESIDED WAS SMALL, ABOUT 3 PERCENT OF THE GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT, AS COMPARED WITH 20 PERCENT IN 2004. AS FRUGAL WITH THE TAXPAYERS’ MONEY AS HE WAS WITH WORDS, PRESIDENT COOLIDGE HAD NO INTEREST IN SEEING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GROW LARGER. Pg. 161-162
I can help my children by educating myself first and then teaching them. This book is an outstanding resource for just that. We as Americans need to know our history. We can only walk forward into the future if we are educated—educated correctly about the past.
So if you want to jog your historical memory, learn something you didn’t know, or teach your children about our nation, then A Time For Freedom is a great resource. I would also recommend, America: A Patriotic Primer and Our 50 States: A Family Adventure Across America, both of which were also written by Lynne Cheney.
Obama School Speech to Our Children

On Tuesday, President Obama is scheduled to speak to our children. He is going to say what? Who knows. He’ll surely sugar coat it and make it sound all nice. But, just as I wrote in my e-mail to Neal Boortz, there are many things in life that look really nice, but when you peel back the layers the truth is revealed.
This is the problem I have with this speech. Each day we see more and more layers peeled away from our President, thanks to many hard working conservatives out there, and so now the truth about Barak Obama is coming to light, things I saw long before he was elected and I don’t like it and I don’t want my children indoctrinated into it—even if ever so smoothly.
My children are my husband’s and my responsibility. So on that day, we will be sending a note with each of our three children excusing them from class during that slot of time. I wish our superintendent would have had enough courage to just opt out of showing it at all, but that didn’t happen. So as responsible parents we will take the option we were given and hope that most, if not all, parents will do the same and pull their children from the broadcast.
I know from my many calls to the district office and to the various principles, that I am not the only concerned parent. Way to go parents. We are just fed up. If President Obama’s actions, policies and “associations” were of pure motive then my views might be different. Though, I still would want to know what was in the speech no matter what.
President Obama, what are you up to? I am pretty sure I know.
My God is Bigger than Corruption

With all the despair and well deserved concern happening in our blessed country it is difficult to find encouragement. I can’t make it through a day without dealing with worry. If I didn’t have Jesus as Lord of my life, the despair would continue. Praise God, though! When I find worry overwhelming in my daily life and attitude I am gently reminded that my Lord is bigger than the problems and concerns that I face personally and that our country faces under the direction of an unwise and corrupt administration.
There are many days that I feel like Jeremiah. I am watching my country going down and I weep. I see a power and money hungry government trying to take over. I see a lost people living their lives with absolute relativism. I see corruption on every corner. What has happened. The same thing that happened to Israel and Judah. They turned their back on God and decided to partake in their own type of relativism. They felt it was okay to dabble in a little of this and a little of that. Sounds eerily familiar. It didn’t work then and it won’t work now. God is a just God.
I just finished reading the book of Lamentations and was amazed at how it hit home with me and what America is going through. I would urge everyone to read it. Remember the context. Jeremiah had predicted and witnessed the devastation of his homeland. And now he was expressing his nation’s grief. Through the despair, though, you find hope, repentance and renewal.
My prayer is that the people of America will turn back to God and not take the beautiful freedoms he has given us for granted. I pray that they will understand just what God has done for us and remember it every day of their lives. Then and only then will they realize that God is bigger than all of this corruption that is plaguing our government and people.
Who can speak and have it happen
if the Lord has not decreed it?
Is it not from the mouth of the Most High
that both calamities and good things come?
Why should any living man complain
when punished for his sins?Let us examine our ways and test them,
and let us return to the Lord.
Let us lift up our hearts and our hands
to God in heaven, and say:
“We have sinned and rebelled
and you have not forgiven.” Lamentations 3:37-42
There is always hope. God gives people a chance. Will we take it? Will you take it?
Another Appointee Will GLSEN!

Well, I see that our president has appointed another all-star to his staff. This man is Kevin Jennings. He is the founder of GLSEN which stands for the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network. I’m so beside myself. Not surprised, but upset.
Obama wants to appoint him to the Education Department’s head of the Safe and Drug Free Schools. Sounds innocent, but let’s keep it real. We all know how our President works by now. This man will have the power to change policy and influence how and what our children are taught.
We will likely find our children being indoctrinated into the lifestyles of the gay community. Instead of learning the 3R’s, they will be learning about GLTBs (Gays, Lesbians, Trans-genders, and Bisexuals). They will be told things that will make them question who they really are sexually. Does this disturb you? I hope so!
We as parents must protect our children. If it means I pull my children from the public schools, I most certainly will. God has entrusted them with my husband and me. We will not tolerate any of this nonsense. We have two boys and one girl and that is who God made them. That is the way they will stay.
It’s All in Obama’s Plan

It is a sad time for America. I just want to scream to the mountain tops. I go about my daily routine of taking care of the house and our three children, all the while my President is purposely sinking our country into disaster. Yes, he is doing this on purpose.
He says he doesn’t want to be involved in the running of General Motors, but yet he is in the middle of running General Motors and loving it. A new board of directors—picked by none other than Obama. Wow this should be good. Oh and don’t forget that we will all be driving around death mobiles, because they will be like driving a tin can on the freeway.
People, wake-up. President Obama is purposely putting us in the tank. It’s all in the Saul Alinsky plan. I’m screaming loud. Don’t be duped. He is a scary man. He doesn’t care about the poor or the middle class or anyone who does. He rubs shoulders with the wealthy elite, that is if they donate generously to him, but watch out if you don’t. He will take you down or at least try hard.
I am still screaming. I don’t think a large majority of Americans care anymore. Is there anyone out there who wants America back? Come on people. Do your part here in the U.S. while our wonderful and brave soldiers do their part overseas. Don’t be duped by the president and his “suave” ways. He is truly evil and he doesn’t care about any of you.
Did you hear him say that we are all sacrificing for our children and grandchildren. He said we wouldn’t see things get better in our time. I am screaming again. What business is it of his. Was he sacrificing when he went on a $24,000 date with his wife the other night? No. And don’t expect him to sacrifice. Wake up people. He doesn’t care about you. He shouldn’t be in the business of helping me sacrifice for my children or my grandchildren. My sacrifice is between my God, my husband and me—final.
Chosing a Supreme Court Justice

So who is this Sonia Sotomayor? Why did President Obama pick her as a possible Supreme Court Justice? Can we trust her?
Well, you can read all about her and hear all about her in the media. The true conservatives have a huge problem with her and the liberals love her, so there you go. It’s always going to be one side says this and the other says that. But, she can’t hide from who she really is. She’s out there now.
What is the role of our Supreme Court Justices? I don’t think very many Americans know. We aren’t taught in school anymore. Most people, sadly enough, don’t even care. They seem to think that this is just Washington D.C. business that doesn’t affect them. It does matter though.
Our justices should be appointed on the grounds that they will apply the law regardless of their own policy preferences. They aren’t to use their own biases and experiences to sway their decisions. Our Supreme Court Justices are to interpret the Constitution and laws based on their original meaning.
So can Ms. Sotomayor do that? I don’t believe she can. President Obama said he would appoint justices on the criteria of whether they had a “heart” and “empathy” when deciding cases. This is in stark contrast to what the role of our justices is supposed to be.
Educate yourselves, America. Don’t just roll over and let Washington D.C decide everything. Know the facts. Know history. Know the roles of our government branches. Read about Sonia Sotomayor. Listen to her. Scrutinize all that she says and stands for. Get involved. Let your congressman know how you feel. It’s our country, not the Federal Government’s!
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Do not forget history!
The other night our family watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I hadn’t read any reviews on the movie, so I wasn’t sure if our children should watch it. We did let them and we answered questions if they had them.
If you aren’t familiar with the movie, it is about the Holocaust. It is a story about an adventurous young boy, who happens to have a father who runs a concentration camp that exterminates Jews by gassing them and then burning them. There is obviously more to the story, but I don’t want to ruin it.
I am not sure our children completely understood it all and I was somewhat afraid that they might have horrible dreams, but at the same time, I was glad that they watched it with us. I really don’t think that our children are taught enough about this. I don’t even think that I comprehend all that went on during Hitler’s leadership.
It was a horrendous time in history that must not be forgotten. And our children deserve to know the truth, so that they can know history and not repeat it. We don’t need to revisit that scene. No human, created by God, deserves the treatment that the Jews and the Jewish sympathizers endured.
Power that becomes out of control and falls in the wrong hands is a costly and scary proposition. God is the only One who can have power and use it right. Hitler was a maniac and he had many under him who were his puppets. He took power, did anything to keep power, including brainwashing many into thinking that he was for good and the Jewish people were the evil ones. He had many in America duped. Are our children taught that? I don’t think so. We really need to know our history, or it just might come back to haunt us.
Do you know history? Don’t always believe what you are taught in school. Check things out on your own. Educate yourself. We don’t want to repeat the horrors of the past.
