What Happened To Common Sense?

I realize we need rules and laws, but we must use wise judgment and common sense when applying them.

As I am sure most of you have heard about or read over the last few days, a six year old boy was facing 45 days in reform school for taking a Cub Scout camping utensil to school. He was excited to have it and enjoyed using it on camp outs. The camping utensil apparently fell out of his back pack and was seen by a supervisor at his school. Oh my goodness. Grab the handcuffs.

Due to the no tolerance rule in place the school had no other choice but to suspend him and send him off to reform.

The school board apparently had enough protest that little Zachary won’t be off to reform school, but may still have to visit the guidance counselor at school. Way to go parents.

Amazing, truly amazing. Teenagers can somehow show up in the streets of Chicago with boards and their own feet and kill an innocent boy, all the while surrounded by desensitized teenagers and yet we want to suspend an innocent six year old for a cub scout utensil. Hmm. Is that common sense? What a messed up, political correct corrupted country we are becoming.

Let’s see what common sense might have looked like. “Zachary, I am so sorry, but I will have to hold on to your pocket utensil kit until I can talk to your parents and hand it over to them. We can’t allow items like that at school. It is our policy, so that we can try to keep all of you safe.” Pretty simple. Pretty straight forward.

We truly need to focus on the important. Politically correct, no tolerance rhetoric has overtaken what God gave us—BRAINS!!!

Do We Have What It Takes To Change Course?

I was watching Glenn Beck yesterday and I was intrigued by what he had to say regarding where we are headed as a nation.  Unless we change course and bring spiritual faith back into play we will find ourselves back in bondage.

Finding Rest

This past week and even today, I have had unrest in my soul that I can’t even put into words. Circumstances and issues just seem to keep flying in my face and there seems to be no rest from them.

I have had many a break down and have gone through a good share of Kleenex. I find myself in a panic. Anxiety builds up. My husband was right when he told me I paralyze myself, because I allow all of the “stuff” to overwhelm me, instead of just moving, even if it means baby-steps.

Finding RestI need rest. Life just seems to be crushing me and wearing me out. I am in a daily battle just to keep my eyes and heart focused on the Lord. There has to be some light.

Well, there is. God always has a way of bringing me back to Him. I was reading Matthew 11 today, and was reminded in verse 28, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Boy how I needed that. It was a reminder that no matter what happens or doesn’t happen, God is always there.

Are you weary? Are you burdened? Guess who can give you the rest you so desperately need? GOD can and will. He’s waiting.

Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize – Why?

Why? A Nobel Peace Prize!

Can anyone tell me why? Why in the world did our president receive a Nobel Peace Prize after being in office only nine months. This is outrageous! He was nominated just two weeks into his term as President of the United States. Why? I just don’t get it.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel more secure with President Obama at the helm. He saddles up next to dictators and Holocaust deniers. He has extreme radicals walking by his side. He apologizes to the world for America and how we have behaved in the past. He snubs his nose at Poland and Israel. And we reward him with a Nobel. Makes sense, doesn’t it?

I always thought that the Nobel Peace Prize was suppose to go to a man or woman who had done something worthy to help our world. President Obama has done nothing. This is an embarrassment and it devalues the Nobel Peace Prize and what it stands for or stood for. It’s another opportunity for President Obama to be on camera. Do you see the head growing?

Why?

A Time For Freedom

A Time For Freedom by Lynne Cheney

A Time For Freedom by Lynne Cheney

Do you know American History? I thought I did, until I read A Time For Freedom by Lynne Cheney. From 13,000 years ago to 2001, Mrs. Cheney takes you through American history in small comprehensible points.

I was amazed at how many facts I had forgotten and how many more I had never been taught. These are fundamental facts from our great Nations history. My lack of knowledge made me concerned about my own children’s history education. What are they learning or not learning and how could I step in and make a difference?

THE SIZE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OVER WHICH PRESIDENT COOLIDGE PRESIDED WAS SMALL, ABOUT 3 PERCENT OF THE GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT, AS COMPARED WITH 20 PERCENT IN 2004. AS FRUGAL WITH THE TAXPAYERS’ MONEY AS HE WAS WITH WORDS, PRESIDENT COOLIDGE HAD NO INTEREST IN SEEING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GROW LARGER. Pg. 161-162

I can help my children by educating myself first and then teaching them. This book is an outstanding resource for just that. We as Americans need to know our history. We can only walk forward into the future if we are educated—educated correctly about the past.

So if you want to jog your historical memory, learn something you didn’t know, or teach your children about our nation, then A Time For Freedom is a great resource. I would also recommend, America: A Patriotic Primer and Our 50 States: A Family Adventure Across America, both of which were also written by Lynne Cheney.
