If I Could Talk to President Obama…

Obama talks and talks about a crisis and what is causing it. Well, there were problems when Bush left. He made a big mistake pushing through the bail-out just before leaving office, with Mr. Shifty eyed Paulson’s help, but President Obama, when are you going to look in the mirror and see the signs.

You are tanking America. You are placing fear before common sense. You are blowing the term “responsible budget” out to sea. You are bringing the economy to the bottom. You. You are president now.

When will you take responsibility for what’s happening now? If you wanted to be a great President you would have cut taxes and stopped all of these porkulous bills. History is not going to look favorably on you.

God is watching you President Obama. You will answer to Him, whether you believe in Him or not. When you turn your back on the Creator of all, you are messing with fire. God is a jealous God and you can be immoral only so long. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

Do you know anyone who hasn’t cheated on their taxes. It’s amazing. There sure is a lot of change going on and it’s not good. It’s scary.

People of America, you had better rethink where you place your hope. President Obama is not my hope and he shouldn’t be yours. Man will always let you down. God never will.

President Obama, have you ever heard that the “truth shall set you free”? You should try it.

Take a Life to Save Another?

So, now our new president has taken his “savior” status a step further and has decided to reverse the law on embryonic stem cell research.   I guess it’s okay to kill a life to see if you can save another life.

I actually heard someone say that they thought this was a great idea, because it was allowing research to continue on something that wasn’t necessarily viable to save a life that could remain viable or improve on their viability. Who does this person think they are?

This all goes back to whether you believe life begins at conception or not. And whether you truly believe that there is a God who created all. When God is removed, everything comes tumbling down. Including how we cherish life.

Lord Have Mercy…

Boy oh boy, I just can’t keep up with all the political news. It’s out of control. Our government is out of control. Our president is way out of control and he likes it. It is all making me so dizzy. There are moments when I just have to turn on the Game Show Network and escape it all. Except you can’t even escape it there, either. Someone will bring up President Obama’s magnificence on that channel too.

I just don’t get all of this. I am so afraid for the United States of America. I pray daily that the Lord will have mercy on our country. But, I do not ask that He allow Obama to succeed. We don’t want him to succeed. That would mean the death of our country as we know it.

People, it is okay to hope that he doesn’t succeed. It’s okay! I don’t want abortion to succeed. I don’t want the government telling my parent’s that they have lived long enough and that the medical procedures they need aren’t going to happen. I don’t want my children to be forced to endure an education that is taught by radical socialists.

We have to stand up for what is RIGHT. We have to use Common Sense. And I have to keep it Real!

The government is not our Bible. President Obama is not the Messiah. He is a man. He is a politician. And from what I have heard he is a liar and a fool. Yes, I said that. Do not put your trust in man. Never! Instead, put your trust in the Lord. He never changes. And He is in charge of EVERYTHING!!!!

Parent Involvement Matters

I am truly concerned about my children’s education. And I don’t believe I am alone. Many families have decided to homeschool their children. I applaud them. I am not there yet, although I have been looking into all of the curriculum available. We just aren’t in a place to afford it.

I don’t like the way I see things heading here in the U.S. As a conservative and a Christian mom I want to preserve our heritage as believers and Americans. My children can’t receive that in the public school setting. It’s my husband’s and my responsibility to ensure that our children learn what is true!

As parents, we must be completely engaged in our children’s lives at home and at school. We did not have children so others could teach them right from wrong. We cannot drop our children off at daycares, public schools or private schools and expect that they are being taught our values, morals and ethics.

In today’s educational environment we must take an active role in educating ourselves as to what is being taught in the classroom. I must confess, I often wonder if they are being taught anything at all. The way they teach anymore seems to lead to chaos and confusion. Do they even teach the fundamentals anymore? You know, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Oh and how about spelling. Heaven forbid we circle a misspelled word in red and have the student look the word up in a dictionary and spell it correctly.

Things sure have changed and they haven’t changed for the better. Take for instance teaching children how to read. You might be excited to see your child come home and read some words, but do you really know how they are being taught to read? It probably isn’t by using phonics. Our children are taught to guess, to think about what would make the most sense, to sound out the first part of the word and then finish it with what they think fits. Whole language at it’s best.

I saw this effect my oldest child’s reading ability and I wasn’t about to let it happen to my other two, so I preceded to reteach my oldest and then teach my younger ones how to read. I used Turbo Reader by Phyllis Schlaffley. It was easy and precise and my children can read excellently. Unfortunately, my oldest got a bad taste for reading and still struggles, but I hate to imagine where any of them might be had I not intervened.

We must be involved and educated ourselves. Parenting takes hard work, but it is so worth it.

Gifts from God

Being a parent can be very discouraging and scary, but at the same time it can and should be rewarding and a blessing.

I am always looking for little gems of wisdom to help me as a mom. I don’t like psycho babble or “modern” ways of relating to and disciplining my children. I am all for the tried and true ways.

I always strive to hold all that I read and learn up to the Bible. God, after all, is the author of life and Creator of all. He will guide through His Word and I also believe that He uses many great men and women to proclaim the truth and give us those little gems of wisdom.

I came upon a small booklet written by Dr. David Jeremiah, How to Encourage Your Children, that had some great little gems of wisdom.

Four Ways to Encourage Your Children

1. Focused Attention: Make each child a priority in your life, no matter how busy your life.
2. Individual Affirmation: Every child needs to know that they are unique and special.
3. Genuine Appreciation: Don’t walk around looking for what they do wrong, but for what they do right.
4. Physical Affection: Love your children in a tangible way letting them know that they are important.

This is just a very condensed version. I would recommend reading Gifts from God by Dr. Jeremiah. It is a very good book on remembering that our children are precious and encourages parents in raising godly children.
